Thrombolysis
Thrombolysis is effective if given as soon as possible after acute myocardial infarction.
Tenecteplase
Tenecteplase 10,000unit powder and solvent for solution for injection vials
30-50mg (max. per dose 50mg), dose to be given over 10 seconds and Initiated within 6 hours of symptom onset, dose varies according to body weight - consult product literature.
Prescribing Notes:
- Tenecteplase has the advantage of availability as a single, weight adjusted, intravenous bolus injection.
- If severe bleeding occurs, the fibrinolytic should be discontinued; coagulation factors and/or tranexamic acid may be required.
- Tenecteplase is contraindicated in clinical situations where thrombolytic therapy is associated with a higher bleeding risk.
