Prescribing Notes:

  • Cytotoxic drugs are also used for their immunosuppressive or anti-proliferative effects in the treatment of a variety of auto-immune conditions. Follow local guidance for the safe use of cytotoxic agents and identified hazardous drugs in non-cancer indications when used in any care setting. All staff must be aware of the risks of handling these drugs and the precautions that need to be taken to safeguard themselves and others. In NHS Lothian there is abbreviated guidance for the safe use of cytotoxic agents in non-cancer indications incorporated into NHS Lothian Safe Use of Medicines Procedures.
